Developments within the VERA-2R and a rebuttal to a study conducted in Australia

Several studies on validity and reliability of the VERA-2R are recently published. In 2022, the VERA-2R training has been adjusted and in 2023, an addition to the English manual has been designed by Elaine Pressman, Nils Duits and Maarten van Leyenhorst. These developments reflect best practise in risk-assessment and riskmanagement for violent extremism and are outlined in more detail in this document. The document also entails some of the main arguments from the rebuttal that the Netherlands Insitute for Forensic Psychiatry and Psychology has provided to the Australian Government, by which the NIFP counters some critical aspects from a policy-study conducted by Emily Corner and Helen Taylor.
